By Plane

Cesena can be reached from several international airports, all within approximately 1 to 2 hours by car or public transport.

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport (BLQ)

Approximately 90 km (1 hour) north of Cesena, BLQ is the easiest option for those coming from abroad. It’s one of Italy’s most important international hubs (the fourth by traffic), offering over 80 destinations, including daily direct flights to Frankfurt, London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Rome, enabling intercontinental connections.

Connections from BLQ to Cesena:

  • Shuttle ItaliaBus / Shuttle Rimini-Cesena-Bologna Airport (may require transfer in Rimini or Bologna). This option lifts people from the airport directly to Cesena, though the Cesena stop is not close to the city center. Additional dedicated transport for conference days is being investigated.

  • Marconi Express Monorail + Train: Take the Marconi Express Monorail to Bologna Centrale (7 minutes, departures every 10-15 minutes) + regional and high-speed trains from Bologna Centrale to Cesena (approximately 55–65 minutes). Regional trains run once per hour, plus several high-speed and intercity services.

Other Airport Options

  • Rimini Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) – Approximately 40 km (35 minutes) southeast of Cesena. Offers seasonal and charter flights from several European cities. Best suited for short-haul European arrivals.

  • Forlì Luigi Ridolfi Airport (FRL) – Approximately 20 km (20 minutes) west of Cesena. Regional airport with a growing number of international connections (mainly Ryanair).

  • Ancona Falconara Airport (AOI) – Approximately 130 km (1 hour 30 minutes) south of Cesena. Offers connections to several European destinations.
