Roberto Casadei, PhD is an assistant professor at Alma Mater Studiorum–Università di Bologna (Italy). His research interests revolve around software engineering and distributed artificial intelligence. He has 80+ publications in international journals and conferences on topics including collective intelligence, aggregate computing, self-* systems, and IoT/CPS. He led the development of the open-source ScaFi aggregate programming toolkit. He received the IEEE TCSC Award for Excellence, “for contributions to computational and programming paradigms supporting the engineering of large-scale collective and self-organizing systems”. He has been serving in the organizing and program committees of multiple conferences such as ECAI, AAAI, SEAMS, ACSOS, COORDINATION, ICCCI, and SAC, as a guest editor and reviewer for renowned international journals, and as editorial board member of Elsevier IoT, JAISCR, and Wiley CCPE. Most notably, he is the PI of the FIS3 Starting Grant project FoMaSE (Foundations for Macro-programming-based Software Engineering, 2026-2031, 1.1M€).
